Analysis of Geolocation and Its Risk on Privacy in Modern Society from the Sociological Perspective

This is a position paper I wrote during my 2nd semester at graduate school.

In this paper, I narrate what is geolocation technology, how it works, and how the technology could risk users’ privacy in the digital era. By relating social scientists’ beliefs to geolocation’s use cases, I explain the technology’s advantages and disadvantages in modern society.

Theorists referred in the paper include John Urry, Arjun Appadurai, Herbert Marcuses, and Erving Goffman to support my analysis.
